A-B Emblem, Inc. emerged from the traditions and craftsmanship of Albin Conrad in 1892, when he established the first Conrad family embroidery enterprise in Oelsnitz, Germany. The craft was manufacturing fine embroidery in the old European tradition. That same attention to detail and artistry came to the United States in the person of E. Henry Conrad when he emigrated to New Jersey in 1929. In only 11 years the third generation Conrad started his own embroidery facility producing U.S. armed forces insignia and other fine embroidery products.
In 1949, E. Henry Conrad changed focus and concentrated on the manufacture of commercial emblems with logo designs. He named the company A-B Emblem after the first names of his daughter, Annerose and son, Bernhard. The company grew and became the official emblem manufacturer for NASA, beginning with the Apollo 11 lunar landing project.
In the early sixties the factory moved to its present location in Weaverville NC. By now, fourth generation Bernhard Conrad had assumed leadership of A-B Emblem Inc. New clients were gained over the years. A-B Emblem, Inc. could now count NASCAR, Boy Scouts of America and Disney among its prestigious client roster. With the company’s growth came the rise of new technology. The traditions of pride and craftsmanship have remained as the core philosophy of the company even with new products and production methods.
A-B Emblem Inc. is now led by the fifth generation of the Conrad family and has expanded its manufacturing capabilities across the globe. With manufacturing plants in China and Mexico, A-B Emblem is an acknowledged leader in the embroidered emblem industry with global market share and influence.
